Long Beach State 83 – Colorado State 77

Just numbers as the vistors had their way in the paint in the second half after shooting lights out in the first.
Somehow the most important stat was that CSU was something like +7 or +8 when forward Tiel Daniels was on the court. He is the only player on the CSU roster that carries any kind of defensive presence in the paint. Colorado State led 14-10 in the first half when he went to the bench. By the time he returned, CSU was down about 8 points. He started the second half. CSU cut an 8-point halftime deficit to 5 when he was in the game. With 15:35 remaining in the game Daniels went to the bench. He never returned. He played 16 minutes and CSU outscored Long Beach by about 8 points in those minutes.
When a coach preaches defense and a team is struggling on defense, its pretty effin stupid to play your best interior defender for fewer minutes than guys who get pushed around in the paint.
I don’t get paid to watch games. And I’ve never won a D-1 game in my life. But I haven’t lost one either. Our coach lost one tonight.
Anybody wanna guess how many Josh Scott scores on Sunday if Daniels plays 16 minutes?
Great insight coach!
