Today in MWC Hoops (1-10-13)
First conference games of the year. The piker in me says I gotta make some picks!
Nevada @ AFA (-3.5) – The Wolf Pack is guard oriented and likes to get to the line. Tough formula on the road. I like AFA in this one but I’m nervous about a backdoor cover because of AFA’s mediocre free throw shooting.
Boise State @ Wyoming (-4) – Boise State struggles with Wyoming’s methodical and physical style of play. I wouldnt touch this game until I see how WYO can play without their best wing Luke Martinez. But in the interest of always making a pick, I’ll take Boise and the points. I think they’ll lose by 3.
UNLV @ UNM (-3) – The Line opened at 1 and has moved to 3 in the first MWC heavyweight battle of the year. I see it as a physical low-scoring affair that UNM ultimately puts way at the free throw line. Take the Lobos.
San Diego State @ Fresno State (+7.5) – I dont see how the Bulldogs can win the game with their limited offensive prowess but with SDSU’s Xavier Thames expected to miss the game with a bad back, I think the Bulldogs will get keep it under the number. Mostly due to the fact that they foul a lot and SDSU’s free throw shooting will suffer without Thames. Take the Dogs and the points.
